PHOTOGRAPHY BRIGHTON

Here is my photography Brighton portfolio. I regularly work in Birmingham, Bristol, Brighton, Essex, Exeter, Kent, Leicester, London, Oxford, Peterborough, Salisbury, Southampton Sussex, and the South Coast.

I have clients all over the country, and I am happy to travel. I live 10-15 minutes from the M25, around 5 minutes from the M3, and 25 minutes from the M4 near Reading East, so it is pretty easy for me to get just about anywhere in the UK.

I do sometimes go further North, but generally, it would mean working for a whole day shoot or more, rather than just a few hours.  It is always worth contacting me, for a quote; all prices are fully inclusive of mileage charges. However, the only extras will be parking and any congestion charges.

Brighton Metro College

Central Brighton Campus Pelham Street, BN1 4FA – Photography Brighton

This was a large job, as it was to cover around 5 Campuses along the South Coast plus a couple of one where one-off events. The brief was to cover all the departments, each Campus, and some of the social activities open to the students.
Having worked in many educational establishments before, I learned that it was best to be mobile and take the minimum equipment necessary.

This would include, a camera bag with a couple of camera bodies, lenses, a small and a larger battery flash. This is mounted on a lightweight light stand.

I tend to avoid doing too many wide shots, as I think it’s more interesting to do more close-up candid shots.

Tabitha Portrait – Photography Brighton

I do a lot of portraits and Brighton photography, but most tend to be indoor, or studio, but I was asked to do an outdoor portrait.
Tabitha wanted a nice colourful background, and something a bit different, so we met up around the Jubilee Street area, and after having a quick look around identified several possible Brighton locations.
Luckily the weather was pretty much perfect for an outdoor portrait, as it was quite soft sunshine and not too harsh, the area was great.
There were several contrasting locations within a short walk of each other, as the lighting was quite soft. Therefore, I was able to get away without using any supplemental flash, which you do sometimes need to soften the shadows.

Hobbycraft Brighton

Pavillion Retail Park Brighton BN2 3QA – Photography Brighton

This was shot in two halves, firstly I did a shoot at Hobbycraft in Eastbourne, as the staff who were going to work at the new Brighton Branch were doing all of their training there. Then I covered the opening of the store in Brighton.
I was quite surprised when I arrived at the Brighton store, as it was still early, but there was a huge queue outside already.

I quite often find that if there are a lot of people at an event. You can get the best shots of the crowd from a slightly higher angle, so I usually pack a small stepladder in the back of the car, you don’t need to be more than around 60 cm higher, which should be enough.

The lighting in the store was good so it was just a case of increasing the ISO setting on the camera to get a fast enough shutter speed to freeze any movement.

Great Photography Brighton Locations and surrounding areas

Brighton used to be known as London by the Sea, and was well known for its regency buildings on the seafront, however there are a lot more great photography Brighton and surrounding locations in the South Coast area.

The Royal Pavillion was built as a summer residence for George 1V, in the regency period, reflecting both Indian and Chinese architecture, nowadays it is a museum to show the period, likewise Brighton is very rich in regency buildings along the seafront, with many photo opportunities.

The lanes in Brighton gives you a view into a previous age, no large shops, no large stores or supermarkets, just small speciality shops, which you would have been likely to find in the Victorian era., in fact I don’t suppose anything has changed too much, great for a photoshoot, and ideal if the shots need a period feel.

The Palace Pier will always be a great background, but of course it can get busy in the summer, so choose the time of day carefully.

Likewise, Brighton has to have one of the most iconic seafronts in the country, with the beach and both piers in the background.

There are also several parks in Brighton, which also provide excellent photographic backgrounds such as Stanmer Park and Preston Park

Lastly if you are looking for a more spectacular background just outside Brighton there is Devils Dyke, which is the only 100 metres deep dry valley on the South Downs.
