PHOTOGRAPHY SOUTHAMPTON
Here is my photography Southampton portfolio. I regularly work in Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Essex, Exeter, Kent, Leicester, London, Peterborough, Salisbury Southampton, Sussex, and the South Coast.
I have clients all over the country, and I am happy to travel. I live 10-15 minutes from the M25, around 5 minutes from the M3, and 25 minutes from the M4 near Reading East, so it is pretty easy for me to get just about anywhere in the UK.
I do sometimes go further North, but generally, it would mean working for a whole day shoot or more, rather than just a few hours. It is always worth contacting me, for a quote; all prices are fully inclusive of mileage charges. However, the only extras will be parking and any congestion charges.
Antler Eastleigh – Photography Southampton
This was a job for a PR company that specialise in property, and property developers.
It was simply a case of photographing a family and dog, in their newly built property on the outskirts of Southampton.
It was a large estate, that included a local primary school for their young son. The property was situated in the quiet and pleasant countryside.
We took several shots inside the property. My favourite image for the purpose was the family shot outside the front door.
Boyle and Summers – Photography Southampton
I was contacted by this architectural company, who wanted some new shots for their website.
They mainly wanted headshots, plus some group shots of the whole company, which we shot around the docks in Southampton.
I thought it would also be a good idea to have some posed shots in their offices. Therefore, we set up a desk scenario and shot it as though it was a discussion or a casual meeting.
I also did some candid shots in their main office.
Microlink Southampton – Photography Southampton
Earlier this year I was asked to quote on a shoot for the company Microlink, who are based near Southampton.
Microlink works with disabled people, using technology to overcome, their disabilities, and to enable them to work as normally as possible.
The shoot took place in a shared office space in the center of Southampton, which kindly provided a huge amount of equipment.
During the shot, we used custom-made office chairs, that were made to measure for the employee. Other equipment included, were hearing devices for the deaf to enable them to participate in meetings.
They used large brightly coloured keyboards for the visually impaired and tools that can help people that are dyslectic.
During the shot, I used flash, as the ambient light was not too bright enough.
As I was shooting in a shared space it was quite challenging to avoid distracting backgrounds, and other people working in the space who didn’t want to be included in the shots.
All worked out well though, there was quite a lot of retouching required to drop screen images into computer monitors.
Nick Snow Design – Photography Southampton
I have done a couple of jobs for Nick Snow, who has always put an immense amount of thought into the styling of the rooms before the shoot.
Interiors are pleasant to photograph, especially when someone has put a lot of thought into the presentation.
It helps me enormously if the interior designer has brought their own props along as well, which can really make a difference.
The most common interiors I photograph are kitchens, as the kitchen and dining area are designed first.
Sharx Shoes – Photography Southampton
I was contacted by Sharx Shoes to photograph their deck shoes.
They had managed to get the crew of the Abu Dhabi racing yacht to co-operate with the shoot. The crew were in Southampton at the time, training for their entry In the Volvo round the world yacht race.
It was a really interesting shoot. Although the crew quarters were extremely cramped, including the sleeping facilities. You can’t help but imagine the ordeal the race actually is.
We experienced rough weather conditions, and constantly having to move hundreds of kilos of equipment from one side of the boat to the other, several times a day.
Great Photography Southampton Locations and surrounding areas
Southampton is best known for its sea and ferry terminals, but they are difficult to get access to unless you are travelling, but there are plenty of interesting locations in the area
Netley Abbey, great location it is the ruins of a 13th century church, and although it is in ruins, the walls and arches are still intact and would make a great background.
Southampton Common, If you are looking at a large area of open space for a photoshoot, it is ideal, usually not too busy, with grasslands, ponds, wetlands and woodlands offering a wide variety of backgrounds.
The New Forest is a vast area bordering on Southampton with a range of differing landscapes, from woodlands to heathland, plus of course the famous new forest ponies
Mayflower Park This is a park on the waterfront at Southampton, perfect if you want to get great shipping images in the background to your shots.
Ocean Village Marina
Opportunities to photograph one of the largest Marinas in the country, there’s plenty of opportunity to walk around to get different angles, and there are some very large vessels anchored there, I photographed one of the Volvo round the world racing yachts there are few years ago.
Hythe Pier is one of the longest piers in the world, stretching more than 700 metres into the Southampton channel, and was originally the oldest pier railway.
